The New Pittsburgh Courier was there as 12 new graduates were unveiled for Freedom House 2.0, the medical training program that gets graduates ready to be EMTs and paramedics.

The original Freedom House Ambulance Service was established in 1967 to get emergency medical service to Black residents in the Hill District. It soon became known as the first EMT or paramedics service in the U.S.

The graduation ceremony took place on June 20.
