Sister Mary Williams, with the organization Save A Life Today Pittsburgh, partnered with the Pittsburgh Penguins for a community skate party to help introduce the opening of the new ice skating rink at the Hunt Armory to younger, diverse audiences.
It was free ice skating for the kids, and kids enjoyed free food as well.
“Everyone deserves access to the ice, the sport of hockey, and the intangibles that come along with it,” said Tim McNulty, vice president of public affairs, in a statement to the New Pittsburgh Courier. “That is why the Penguins opened the Hunt Armory Ice Rink, made it home to the Penguins Foundation diversity programming and engaged with organizations like Save A Life Today Pittsburgh, who have a long history of improving outcomes for youth and parents.”
The event was held, Feb. 9.
