Be the boss of your own time

(Michigan Chronicle)—What do Oprah Winfrey, President Joe Biden and NBA legend LeBron James have in common? They all have 24 hours in the day.

Yet, with these successful rich American celebrities and leaders still paving the way and showing what it looks like to be a boss, many everyday people with the same 24 hours in their own day might still be wondering how do they manage?

According to https://www.tonuyrobbins.com/, the average person spends 110 hours per year commuting to work; 275 hours per year running errands; 450 hours per year eating and drinking and 1,011 hours per year watching television.

The article said that time is “the one thing that keeps on rolling, no matter what we do” and no matter who you are.

“And if we could choose a superhero power, many of us would probably choose to freeze it, just so we could buy ourselves a few more minutes, hours, or even days to get something done. It’s one of life’s most precious gifts, no doubt. Why then, do so many of us spend time inefficiently or even give our time up so willingly,” the article asks.
When people see the breakdown of how they really spend time, they might be tempted to re-evaluate how they spend their time, according to the article.

“Mindless moments add up. But what if you began to take note of how you spent your time and made a few small adjustments,” the article queried.

If the time spent in front of the television was decreased by only 10 percent, the typical person would save about 100 hours a year.

That free time could be replaced by listening to motivating podcasts, audiobooks or encouraging materials that could lead to a boost in personal productivity.

Another way to improve time is to simply say ”no.”

Saying no can be helpful with time management and not being so readily available for everyone and anything –that can cut down on time. The article added that it is important to show up for “self first” then be ready to show up for others, once well-rested and refreshed.

The article added that free time is not wasted time. Free time could be spent with loved ones and doing what is important to you.

Once shifting how to spend time more appropriately, and using those 24 hours wisely, it will allow for opportunities to create a “powerful sense of purpose, drive and fulfillment every single day.”

One reason so few of us achieve what we truly want is that we never direct our focus; we never concentrate our power. Most people dabble their way through life, never deciding to master anything in particular,” Robbins is quoted as saying.
