Pennsylvania’s Department of Health reported 336 new COVID-19 cases and four new deaths Sunday, bringing the statewide totals to 78,798 cases and 6,215 deaths.

Residents and employees of nursing and personal care homes across 638 facilities in 45 counties represent 19,507, or about a quarter, of the state’s total caseload. More than two-thirds of the state’s total deaths, or 4,268 of them, were in residents of such facilities. Health care workers represent approximately 5,982, about 7.6%, of the state’s total caseload.

Allegheny County reported three new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, but no new hospitalizations or deaths from the virus. To date, the county has reported 2,079 cases, 357 past or present hospitalizations, and 173 deaths.

Allegheny County’s COVID-19 Dashboard is now displaying more detailed information on race and ethnicity, Allegheny County Health Department Director Dr. Debra Bogen said in a statement on Friday, June 12. The county has integrated its Data Warehouse with health department COVID-19 reporting through the state’s PA-NEDSS database, Pennsylvania’s version of the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System. Bogen announced 27% of all COVID-19 cases in Allegheny County were among Black people, though Black people only comprise 13% of the county population. They also account for 31% of hospitalizations and 20% of deaths resulting from COVID-19.
