Pittsburgh guitarist Karl Franklin performs at Schenley Park… (7.12.17)

SUMMER SOUNDS—Just before the City of Pittsburgh showed the movie “Rogue One” in Schenley Park, July 12, Pittsburgh guitarist Karl Franklin took center stage and supplied music to the crowd’s ears. Franklin, who was born and raised in Pittsburgh, told the New Pittsburgh Courier after his hour-long performance that he has been playing the instrument since a very young age. “I’ve had many influences, going back to Curtis Mayfield, Bach, to modern-day guitarists, classical guitarists,” he said. “I like various styles…rock, classical, different kinds of music. I play a seven string.” Franklin can be found via Facebook by searching, “Karl Franklin.” (Photos by Erin Wayne and Akin Sayrak)
