One or none (June 28, 2017)

Now back to my theory. This is what popped into my head as I was driving. The educational boards got rid of Shop in public schools because the school population was becoming more colorful and they did not want these young Black kids to learn these skills that could take them into occupations where they could make a lot of money and be part of a union. You are probably saying, “Boy that traffic must have really been bad, Debbie,” or you are saying, “This girl is on to something.”
Conspiracy or not, I just don’t understand why this type of training went away. Remember Conley Trade School? If you don’t have these classes in each school why not have one school dedicated to learning a trade? It seems like it is so hard for African Americans to get into skilled labor unions and it shows when you don’t see them working on these well-paying construction jobs. There is so much work needed on our bridges and streets. It really ticks me off. Who can make these changes in the schools? I don’t have the answer but something needs to change.
