The NAACP Pittsburgh recently awarded scholarships for the upcoming 2016-17 academic year to Point Park University students Blaine King, Rikkilee Rose, Sonya Rudolph and Maricca Spencer.
The 2016 recipients were honored May 5, at the NAACP Pittsburgh Chapter’s Awards Dinner at the Westin Convention Center in Downtown Pittsburgh.
The Point Park students selected by the NAACP represented undergraduate majors from all four schools at the University.
“As a person of color, receiving this award from one of the most prestigious organizations in the country meant a lot to me. This award made me realize the opportunities people of color have today that my grandparents didn’t have,” said King, a senior broadcast reporting major.
