“We’re young, vibrant, and fun so we feel some social responsibility to provide events to our city that are unique, first-class, and styled catering to young professionals,” Shayla Hawkins said,
Young professionals from numerous walks of life, traveling down different career paths were sure to attend this event. The sophisticated crowd was impressive, but the venue and decorations took the event to new heights. The venue was decked out in colors of pink, blue, and white; while a mermaid flawlessly swam through the pool, which were the wow-factor attendees couldn’t stop talking about.
SHE was established in 2009, alongside Hawkins two business partners plus best friends, Alexis Maddox and Ericka Taylor.
Hawkins obtained an undergraduate degree in Business Management, and her Masters Degree in Business Administration. Straight out of college, she landed a career in corporate America. To some, she was living the American dream, but she was unfulfilled in her career working a job she did not enjoy. She said one day, tired of dragging herself out of bed each morning, she decided to take a leap of faith and leave her corporate job, to fulfill her dreams, which was when SHE was initially born.
“I wholeheartedly believe if you don’t like something then change it. When there is a vision or dream in your heart, it’s in your reach,” Hawkins said.
SHE is a boutique firm specializing in wedding design and event styling coupled with expert planning and coordination. Serving modern clients, their professional style savvy trio brings a fresh and creative approach to the design and planning process.
Aside from the networking events SHE is putting on for the city, they have also had the opportunity to collaborate with famous celebrities on planning events. Hawkins said SHE believes all their clients are notable, and they have been fortunate enough to work with Pittsburgh Steelers Ryan Mundy, Trai Essex, Willie Colon, and Wiz Khalifa’s mother Peachie Wimbush-Polk.
SHE has such a huge following, and so many people that applaud the work that they do. They wanted to connect and build a bridge with their clients, vendors, and other professionals that have the same interest of inspiring, networking, and collaborating.
With such an overwhelming response and amazing feedback since the networking event, they are in the midst of planning another in September.
“We really appreciate everyone who came to the #PittsburghPowerMixer! It was truly an evening of beautiful people with good vibes making good connections and we’re just happy to be able to bridge!,” Hawkins said.
The SHE mantra is live, love, and celebrate stylishly, she said. SHE considers themselves detail snobs, and has yet met a space they could not transform. They enjoy putting together all of the little details, and cater specifically to the personality, style, interest, and preference of the client.
Be on the look out for SHE and more hot, fun, and fresh events.
