PITTSBURGH (AP) _ Officials with Pittsburgh’s Rivers Casino told state gambling regulators they hope to begin building a $50 million hotel next year.
David Parent, president and chief operating officer of parent company Rush Street Gaming, revealed the plans during a three-hour hearing before the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board on Tuesday. The board is considering a three-year license renewal for the casino, which is expected to be granted.
Assuming it is, Parent says the casino hopes to break ground early next year on the 200-to 250-room hotel that would be connected to the casino.
Parent says the hotel would create 1,400 construction jobs and 105 jobs. It’s also projected to generate $29.2 million in new casino tax revenues and $4.7 million in county hotel and sales tax revenue within five years.
