Violet Scott understands the significance of being organized, creative, resourceful and protecting the environment. Since a young age she says she has had a passion for event planning and possessed an entrepreneur spirit.
Five years ago she was employed by the Kingsley Association as an advocate for environmental awareness and soon after devoted herself to planning specialty events, and working on eco-friendly community projects. Scott started out hosting poetry readings at coffee houses and small venues throughout the community. Currently, her company Jade Earth Events provides specialized planned and themed events that incorporate eco-friendly elements fused with tasteful visions mixed with style.
Saturday, April 11 Jade Earth Events will host its second of many networking events, at the Union Project in the Highland Park section of Pittsburgh; 801 Negley Avenue. The free business training and networking event titled, “Affirm Your Business Now,” Scott says is designed to provide information and strategies on how to organize and grow a business using proven techniques to focus ones’ intention for success, to define an ideal customer, to give attendees words and thoughts a magnetic make-over to attract instead of repel; and to discover how power networking can expand a sphere of influence. “We are very excited about the activities that are going to occur and are anticipating great results,” Scott says.
Vendor tables are a major component of the event that is expected to provide entrepreneurs the opportunity to display their wares and demonstrate their skill set. Key vendors are Linda Anderson of Body Dressers, Trena Hicks owner of Cobbler World Baked Goods, Ola Jackson the owner of Onyx Woman Network Media and Leah Johns the owner of Leah Loves that Photography. All four businesses are sponsors of Affirm Your Business Now.
Using the motto, accessorize the body from head to toe, Anderson, designer and maker of Body Dressers has been designing fashion jewelry and clothing for many years. Her passion for art, fashion and design attributed to her idea to accent the body with her creations, dressing the body from head to toes. L.A. Designs by Linda include hair jewelry, head coverings, earrings, necklaces, fabric belts, crochet vest, bracelets, rings, anklets and toe rings.
A distributor of baked goods, Hicks’ cobblers, sweet potato cheese cakes and sweet potato pound cakes are sold in stores throughout Pittsburgh. Excited to share samples of her bake goods and to share business tips to participants of the event, Hicks says, “I am grateful as to how Cobbler World Baked Goods has been developing. God is doing things with this company that I have not even dreamed of.”
In business for nearly 25 years, Jackson continuously empowers women and has been a voice and provides a voice to women of color through her workshops, seminars and conferences. As the founder and CEO of OWN she is the publisher of a business magazine and produces a television talk show and an online radio show. She also provides advertising opportunities through her website.
Johns enjoys the creativity of art in multiple medias including painting, creating short videos, photography or poetry. During Saturdays’ Affirm Your Business Now networking event she plans to share her photography skills by providing professional head shots at a low cost.
Health and wellness expert Dianne Hart Pettis, MS, FNP-BC will serve as the main speaker. The owner of Dianne Hart Wellness, LLC, and an educator, speaker, coach and Family Nurse Practitioner has written numerous articles, contributed to several book projects and has written plays. She recently published a workbook that utilizes affirmations designed to help people attract the prosperous life they were meant to have and is currently working on other writing projects as well as a revision of the workbook, Affirm Your Life Now.
The Aliquippa native was recently a featured guest on the Brian Tracy Show. Tracy is a famous entrepreneur and motivational speaker, consultant, and author. His shows have aired on NBC, CBS, ABC and FOX affiliates across the country. She is a member of the John Maxwell Team, and teaches the famous Maxwell Leadership Philosophy. Hart Pettis has received many nursing and leadership awards; and was recognized by The Dicks + Nanton Agency as one of America’s premier experts of 2014.
Scott a Pittsburgh native envisions a bright future for Jade Earth Events. Her goal is to continue planning various styles of events like weddings, parties and receptions. With summer fast approaching she hopes to organize events where she can incorporate major green initiative themes.
Jade Earth Events also has the capacity to offer marketing tools and custom solutions strategies through Social Media, Video and Voice Broadcasting. Intrigued about the business landscape in the region, Scotts’ desire is to continue utilizing the services she provides and resources she has to expand her footprint into a bigger core network that will enable her to continue to assist businesses in their growth and development.
