Lunch and Learn Series
    APRIL 9— The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh will host its Lunch & Learn Series at 12:15 p.m. at the Downtown & Business Branch, 612 Smithfield St., Downtown. The topic will be “Money Smart Week: You and Your Credit Report.” Heather Murray of Advantage Credit Counseling Service will facilitate this workshop. Women’s Business Breakfast Series
    APRIL 10—Chatham University’s Center for Women’s Entrepreneurship will host its Women Business Leaders Breakfast Series from 8-9:30 a.m. at Chatham University, James Laughlin Music Hall, Woodland Road, Shadyside. Wendy Staso, president & CEO of Huckestein Mechanical Services Inc., and Denise DeSimone, chairman and founder of C-Leveled, will discuss preparing a business for sale, building one’s business to sell, and more. The Second Step
    APRIL 17—The University of Pittsburgh Small Business Development Center will host “The Second Step: Developing A Business Plan” from 7:30-10 a.m. at the University of Pittsburgh, Mervis Hall, Roberto Clemente Drive, Oakland. Attendees will learn all they need to about operational and production planning, conducting market research and creating financial spreadsheets to attract funding for one’s business. 6 Steps to a Better Business
    APRIL 21—Duquesne University’s Small Business Development Center will host “Six Steps to a Better Business” from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at Duquesne University, Rockwell Hall, 600 Forbes Ave., Uptown. Ken Sevick of ActionCOACH and Master Business Coach will teach participants at this workshop will learn the six steps and how to move their businesses to the top. Registration is required. Family Business Seminar
    APRIL 22—The University of Pittsburgh Small Business Development Center and EY will host “Family Business Today—Staying Relevant” from 12-6:30 p.m. at the Fairmont Hotel, 510 Market St., Downtown. This seminar is for both business owners and non-family business entrepreneurs. The day will include a keynote address from the CEO of Nuts.com Jeffrey Braverman; a lively panel discussion with prominent family-owned business leaders; and a workshop with Michele Petruccelli of Petrucelli Consulting. Chamber Candidates Forum
    APRIL 30—The African American Chamber of Commerce of Western Pennsylvania will host its annual Candidates Forum from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Rivers Club, One Oxford Centre, 301 Grant St., Downtown. Attendees will hear from Pittsburgh City Council District 9 candidates and have the opportunity to ask questions concerning small business advancement and economic development for the City of Pittsburgh. The facilitator for the evening will be Rod Doss, editor and publisher of the New Pittsburgh Courier. This event is open to the public and light refreshments will be served.
