Pittsburgh Arts & Lectures presents programs for kids and teens, bringing nationally acclaimed authors with popular books to local audiences for the purpose of promoting lifelong interest in reading. The series is in its thirteenth season and is presented in association with the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh.
Recently, the Hill House presented, in partnership with Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, Andrea Davis Pinkney, a New York Times bestselling and award-winning author of more than 30 books for children and young adults, including picture books, novels, works of historical fiction and nonfiction.
Pinkney’s recent nonfiction work, “Martin & Mahalia: His Words, Her Song,” is a NAACP Image Award nominee. Her “Hand in Hand: Ten Black Men Who Changed America” is the recipient of the 2013 Coretta Scott King Author Award medal. She is a graduate of Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications and is currently a member of the Newhouse School’s Board of Trustees. Pinkney lives in New York City with her husband, award-winning illustrator Brian Pinkney, and their two children. A book signing followed presentation from she and others.
