Women Breakfast Series
MARCH 13—Chatham University’s Center for Women’s Entrepreneurship will host its Women Business Leaders Breakfast Series from 8-9:30 a.m. at Chatham University, James Laughlin Music Hall, Woodland Rd., Shadyside. Jo Ellen Parker, president of the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, will speak on the topic, “A Good Enough Bad Business: The Entrepreneurial Nonprofit.” The Breakfast Series features prominent regional women business leaders speaking on a variety of progressive business topics. Casual networking and a continental breakfast precede engaging and interactive presentations on topics essential for women in business such as innovative entrepreneurship, strategic business growth, unique marketing strategies, and logistical business planning. The First Step
MARCH 13—The Duquesne University Small Business Development Center will host “The First Step: Business Startup Essentials” from 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. at Duquesne University, Rockwell Hall, 600 Forbes Ave., Uptown. This session is designed for new business startups and entrepreneurs. Attendees will learn about business structure and formation, insurance, government procurement, financing options, major components of the business plan, taxation requirements and more. Membership Drive
MARCH 13—The NAWBO will host a Membership Drive Mixer from 6-8 p.m. at Encore Event Design, 452 South Main St., West End. The special guest speaker will be Dr. Renee Galloway, CPC, author of “Done! Prioritize, Plan and Perform to Accomplish Your Goals.” She will give insight and experience about the path to success. Reservations are required. Brown Bag Lunch Series
MARCH 18—The Volunteers of America of Pennsylvania will host its Brown Bag Lunch Series from 12-1 p.m. at 1650 Main St., Pittsburgh. The topic will be “How to get your money in shape so you can get your business in shape.” Guest speaker Barry Courson, of Weddell & Reed Inc., will teach attendees how to start the year off right with best-practice personal finance.  They will leave understanding money management, debt management and budgeting for success. Advice for Nonprofit Job Seekers/Employers
MARCH 19—The Association of Fundraising Professionals will host its workshop on Expert Advice for Nonprofit Job Seekers and Employers from 12-1:30 p.m. at Shannopin Country Club, 1 Windmere Rd., Pittsburgh. Todd Owens and Michelle Pagano Heck, both of Nonprofit Talent, will give advice on topics such as what job seekers should know, qualities Nonprofit Talent looks for in an applicant, what mistakes applicants should never make, and much more.
