Some of us must make a resolution to have a clearer understanding of what are the actual roles of our Pa. State Legislators, attend Allegheny County and Pittsburgh City Council meetings and watch and listen to what transpires and how it affects us.
Some of us must make a resolution to focus on our children’s education by attending meetings held in the local schools and the school board meetings.
Those of us who attend church must make a resolution to ensure that our minister and congregation have a clearer working relationship not only with those who attend service, but those who don’t attend.
A major resolution must be that we magnify our love for our children and our blinders be removed when we recognize our children are on the wrong road.
My personal resolution is that in this year’s 2015, I will turn over the main obstacle that is tearing Black families and Black communities apart and that is denial of Black employment. There can be no stabilization of our families, particularly when the head of the family is blocked from being able to provide for his family.
There exist two major roadblocks—being Black and having a criminal record, a record that in an overwhelming number of cases would not exist if there were enough money to hire a competent attorney. I have witnessed the inadequacies in both offices first hand and I am willing to challenge anyone.
