Over the years untold numbers of people have made New Year’s resolutions with the best of intentions, only to break them.
The year 2015 is upon us and there are a multitude of problems that continue to threaten our communities and they must be addressed. The majority are old, old problems that can only be solved with a new approach. The new approach must be the involvement of the general public. We for too long have delegated solutions to all of our problems to other individuals or organizations. All of us must make a resolution and live up to it by becoming an active participant in resolving a particular problem.
We too frequently have falsely believed that once we elect a person to a political office that he or she will automatically address problems that affect their power base, but that has not proven to be accurate. The truth is that once they get elected they become an extension of the political party and that is who they have allegiance to, not us.
