PITTSBURGH (AP) – A Pittsburgh man jailed last month in the beating death of his girlfriend’s 6-month-old daughter has been charged with homicide.
Prosecutors charged 29-year-old Kenneth Reeves on Tuesday in connection with Kamero Newton’s Dec. 6 death.
He was originally charged with criminal attempt of criminal homicide, aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police say Reeves beat Kamero into unconsciousness. Doctors declared her brain dead and removed her from life support.
Court records show Reeves pleaded guilty in September to charges he beat an ex-girlfriend’s 3-year-old son.
A judge sentenced him to a supervised release program and ordered him to take anger management classes.
