It was a new date and a new location for the Pittsburgh Council of Men’s annual fall dinner dance. For years they celebrated the holiday season on the Friday after Thanksgiving at the Harmarville Comfort Inn, but this year nearly 200 joined PCM on Dec. 6, at the Penn Hills Comfort Inn on Rodi Road.
The crowd had great fun mixing, mingling, dining and dancing, and was introduced to two of their newest members, Chrisp Perry and Milton Oliver. PCM members who greeted  their guests included Michael James, Ira Ritter, president Larry Victum, Reggie Jackson, vice president Clayton Robinson, Milton Oliver, Fred Parker, Michael Hobbs, Chrisp Perry, Don Trent, Dan Brown and James O.H. Williams.
Many walked away with door prizes, but most importantly, funds were raised for scholarships that are presented in the spring.
The late Fred Gladney Sr. and Algia Gary Jr. founded the Pittsburgh Council of Men in May of 1972. In May of 1973 they became a non-profit organization.
The organization owns a 40-unit four story housing complex for handicapped and elderly residents called Shady Park Place, in North Braddock. This project represents a major effort led by an African-American men’s organization in the Pittsburgh area.
