:10—I know. By now you’ve heard about the tremendous success of the first ever Pittsburgh City League All-Sports Hall of Fame inductions. Over 300 people jam packed into the Blue Line Grill. Standing room only. Sell-out crowd and the greatest collection of Pittsburgh athletes gathered in one place at one time. Bar none. But, if you weren’t there, here’s what you missed. No. 1 Orin Richburg All-City and Hubie Bryant All WPIAL, the two most dominant high school athletes of their time reunited. Np. 2 Morrie Cox reminding people that he was not concerned about how high he jumped when he dunked…“My thing was dunking on people!” No.3 Yea, Cindy Dallas is “fine” but Jennifer Bruce, Robin Smith and Brandi Hogan are fine too! You shoulda been there. No. 4 The great Coach George Webb who played for the legendary Pete DiImperio Sr. brought the staff and set the City League on point with the importance of this night and that the time was right and long overdue. No. 5 Ron Carter, the VMI All-American and Hall of Famer…former L.A. Laker…and member of the Clinton Administration who was a triple double on the night as keynote speaker, City League Hall of Fame inductee and Connie Hawkins League Hall of Fame inductee reminding the excited room that, “We are the village that continues to raise the child!” City League…you showed up again! (Big up’s to GWM Productions for all you did to help make this a success!)
:09—DO – NOT – WORRY – OR – WONDER…I am at my spot and your Pittsburgh Steelers are having their way with K.C. and this you can take to the bank. Steelers win 28-21.
:08—You know I don’t get political, but everyone please be reminded of what Malcolm X said, “By any means necessary!” I’m just saying.
:07—Of course “Rhondo” going to Dallas makes a difference. Boston is going nowhere and the Mavericks have a chance and Dirk Nowitzki is as happy as a fat man at a free buffet at the Golden Corral!
:06—Keep your fingers crossed. “The Greatest of all Time” was hospitalized with a touch of the flu, but trust me when I tell ya, Ali will knock the flu out! “They all must fall in the round he calls!”
:05—Speaking of boxing, and I was…question…is there still a heavyweight division in boxing?
:04—I’ve seen the Pitt basketball team play several times and like I said, they’ll be okay. They’re playing short-handed without any inside presence, but they play “Jamie Ball” aka defense! And that boys and girls goes a long way.
:03—This has been the worst four months of movies that I can remember in a long, long time. That being said, the Chris Rock movie Top Five is good, not great, but good. It’s a Chris Rock movie with Chris Rock stuff so it’s funny and spicy. I give it 3? basketballs cause it’s Christmas. See, there is a Santa Claus.
:02—Speaking of Santa, and I was, the ole boy joined with Achieving Greatness Inc. and handed out over 500 toys at the Penn Avenue McDonald’s East Liberty station thanks to owner Iftikhar Milick. More for ya on this next week.
:01—This one’s in the bag unless the boys in black and gold do something stupid…like put Ike or Troy in the game. Oops, my bad. Did I say that out loud?!?! But I’m just sayin!
:00—Love ya Dr. Caryl J. Sheffield. Thanks for reading. You’re the No. 1 Locker Room fan for 2014. Now own it!
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY
