Pittsburgh, PA—The Bloomfield Development Corporation (BDC) Board of Directors has named Christina Howell the interim executive director of the organization. Ms. Howell will support the Board of Directors during the search for a new executive director, and will oversee operations of the organization to ensure a smooth transition.
“Christina’s leadership capability has been proven this year at the Bloomfield Saturday Market, building relationships and attracting new interest in Bloomfield. Her experience in community development and her commitment to the neighborhood make her a natural partner during the transition period,” said Clarence Jackson, Chair of the BDC Board of Directors.
As program manager for the BDC since February, Christina Howell planned and executed the successful Bloomfield Saturday Market in its first year. Additional accomplishments include launching the organization’s first electronic newsletter and managing the creation of a new BDC website and online Bloomfield business directory, both of which will be live by January. Ms. Howell’s experience in community development includes positions with the Mount Washington Community Development Corporation and Design Center.
The BDC Board of Directors has selected a transition team from the board of directors to conduct a thorough search for a permanent executive director, and expect the position to be filled by late spring 2015.
