The topic will be “Meet the Nonprofit Resource Center.” Peggy Domer of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh will discuss how the library can help one’s nonprofit succeed. The Second Step
DEC. 19—The University of Pittsburgh Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence’s will host “ The Second Step: Developing a Business Plan” from 7:30-10:30 a.m. at the University of Pittsburgh, Mervis Hall, Roberto Clemente St., Oakland. Attendees will learn about operational and production planning, conducting market research and creating financial planning spreadsheets to attract funding for one’s business. Women’s Breakfast Series
DEC. 12— Chatham University’s Center for Women’s Entrepreneurship will host its Leadership Breakfast Series from 8-9:30 a.m. at the James Laughlin Music Center, Woodland Road, Shadyside. The topic will be “Embracing Risks, Filling a Void, Knowing When to Walk Away: the Makings of the Successful Business.” Deb Mortillaro, a partner at Dreadnought Wines, will discuss how to use the difficulties of any industry and turn them into opportunities for profitable business by examining the rules and by filling a need. She will also give straight advice about when to do it, when to walk away and how to not be afraid of either decision. A continental breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. Registration is required.
