OCT. 5—Reginald Turner, an 18-year-old Black male from the North Side, was found on Oct. 4 with a fatal gunshot wound to the head in the stairwell of the New Pennley Place apartment complex on Penn Avenue, in East Liberty, by police officers who were responding to a call of shots fired. He was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital where he died hours later. A second male was also found; he had a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the am. Copeland Tyler has been charged with criminal homicide and firearms not to be carried without a license. He is awaiting trial.
OCT. 8—Eric Young, a 17-year-old Black male from the Hill District, was shot to death outside his Morgan Street home in the Hill District as he was leaving his residence, alongside his mother, to go to school at Pittsburgh Milliones 6-12 School. It has been reported that he was targeted. No one has been charged; the investigation is ongoing.
OCT. 11—Robert Wilson, a 35-year-old Black male from East Liberty, was fatally shot during an altercation at the home of his child’s mother in the 600 block of Hale Street in Homewood. He allegedly got into an altercation with the woman’s current boyfriend while at the house asking to see his daughter. Herbert Hart has been charged with homicide.
OCT. 11—Taimiel Watson, a 40-year-old Black male reportedly from Chicago, was found with a fatal gunshot wound in the face while in a crashed vehicle in the 100 block of West Warrington Avenue in Beltzhoover. He was taken to UPMC Mercy where he later died. No one has been charged; the investigation is ongoing.
OCT. 13—Omar Hodges, a 29-year-old Black male from the Hill District, was shot multiple times as he sat in his vehicle at the intersection of Birmingham Avenue and Brownsville Road waiting to begin his shift as a city of Pittsburgh Environmental Services employee. No one has been charged; the investigation is ongoing.
OCT. 13—Marcus Critten, a 22-year-old Black male from Hazelwood, was shot to death near Johnston Avenues and Rosselle Drive, in Glen Hazel, as he was chased on foot by two men who allegedly got out of a vehicle and began pursuing Critten. A second person was wounded and taken to a local hospital; he is expected to recover. No one has been charged; the investigation is ongoing.
OCT. 14—Leonard Butler, a 44-year-old Black male from Elliot, was found shot to death in the basement of his Elliot home on Lakewood Street after a home invasion. Derek Lee Scott was charged with criminal homicide, criminal conspiracy, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, and more. He is currently awaiting trial.
OCT. 23—Laron Howard, a 35-year-old Black male of Duquesne, was found fatally stabbed in the chest, in the kitchen of the home he shared with his live-in girlfriend, Brooke Coleman, at 613 Fifth Avenue in Duquesne. The couple had allegedly been in a domestic dispute when he was stabbed. Howard was taken to UPMC McKeesport where he later died. Coleman has been charged with homicide and is awaiting trial.
OCT. 24—Ronnell Smith, a 25-year-old Black male from McKeesport, was shot multiple times through the driver’s side of his SUV as he was leaving the Lee Tuck Lounge in the 100 block of Steuben Street in the West End. Two men were reportedly seen running away from the scene. No one has been charged; the investigation is ongoing.
OCT. 26—Tyray Evans, a 22-year-old Black male from Virginia, was shot multiple times, including fatally in his mid-section, in the 600 block of Pleasant Ridge Road in Stowe Township. He was taken to Allegheny General Hospital where he later died. Desmond Wilson has been charged with homicide and firearms violation, and is awaiting his trial
