Photo Exhibition
The Pittsburgh Black Media Federation presents its “Feel Like Going On” and “Still Feel Like Going On” Photo Exhibition at Most Wanted Fine Art, 5015 Penn Ave., Garfield. The exhibit is based on a 10-week program in which teen boys who were mentored by professional photographers explored media images of Black men and how to use photography as a medium for storytelling. Prakriti-Maatrikaa, Mrittikaa
Nandanik Dance Troupe presents “Prakriti-Maatrikaa, Mrittikaa” at 7 p.m. at the Kelly Strayhorn Theater, 5941 Penn Ave., East Liberty. This dance-drama production uses choreography that draws from a centuries-old Indian tale of a woman and her daughters, and their struggle to protect the trees of their village from deforestation. The show keeps with the Troupe’s mission to adapt tales from Indian mythology to shed light and modern day issues. There will also be a performance on Nov. 15. Keepers of the Flame
The Legacy Arts Project will host its 8th Annual Keepers of the Flame Awards at 7:30 p.m. at the Hill House Kaufmann Auditorium, 1825 Centre Ave., Hill District. Culture makers of Pittsburgh’s rich African and African-American heritage will be recognized for their contributions in art, social justice, education and visionary leadership. This year’s honorees are Chico Butler, Dr. and Mrs. Johnson, Helen Baynes, Joyce Meggerson-Moore, Poggie Bell and William “Oba” Wells.
