


A media briefing and photo opportunity was held in Hazelwood on October 30, to celebrate the launch of a new Storymobile program by Reading is FUNdamental Pittsburgh, serving neighborhood children with a library- on-wheels service for the first time.
The event was attended by Kevin Acklin, Chief of Staff, Office of Mayor William Peduto; Marge Petruska, Senior Program Director with the Heinz Endowments; and Florri Ladov, executive director of Reading is FUNdamental Pittsburgh. Also attending was kindergarten children from the recently-opened Propel School Hazelwood.
The Storymobile represents a major literacy initiative for the Hazelwood neighborhood, made possible with a grant from The Heinz Endowments of $662,575 over three years.
