Corbett names Slaughter to Pennsylvania Economic Development Financing Authority board

Gov. Tom Corbett has appointed Howard B. Slaughter Jr, PhD to serve on the board of the Pennsylvania Economic Development Financing Authority, which administers both a tax exempt and taxable bond program to make financing cost effective for development projects of all sizes throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
“We are pleased that Howard B. Slaughter has agreed to serve and bring his invaluable experience to the PEDFA Board,” said Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary C. Alan Walker.
Slaughter is currently the president and CEO of Christian Management Enterprises LLC, an entrepreneurial management consulting firm specializing in strategic planning solutions, neighborhood revitalization, diversity training, community development, and fundraising.
He previously was president and CEO of Landmarks Community Capital Corporation. For seven years he worked in the secondary mortgage market as Regional Director of Fannie Mae’s Pittsburgh Business Center, where he managed a $2 billion investment housing plan.
His banking career also included both Equibank and Dollar Bank where he held positions of Asset Management Collector, Bank Manager, Consumer Lender, Small Business Development officer and Assistant Vice President and Vice President of Community Development.
Slaughter has received numerous accolades over the years including the WQED African-American Leadership, the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the School of Communications and Information Systems at Robert Morris University, the Gwen Elliott President’s Award from Pittsburgh Community Services, Inc. and the Small Seeds Development, Inc.’s contribution to families and community-at-large award
He holds a master’s degree in public management from the H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Point Park University, and a Doctor of Science degree in information systems and communication from Robert Morris University.
