Anniversary Celebration
OCT. 18—Achieving Greatness Inc. will host a celebration to say goodbye to Champion Enterprise after 40 years from 8 p.m.-2 a.m. at The Lounge on Verona, Verona Road, Penn Hills. Job Fair

Domestic Violence Presentation
OCT. 22—The Community College of Allegheny County, Crisis Center North, UPMC Passavant and the Passavant Hospital Foundation will host “Stabbed in the Heart: A Story About Domestic Violence, Homicide and Transformation” from 12-2 p.m. at CCAC Allegheny Campus, Foerster Student Service Auditorium, 808 Ridge Ave., North Shore. Lynn Shiner, author and director of the Office of Victims’ Services of the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Deliquency, will be the keynote speaker. Registration is requested. Gateway Medical Society Gala
OCT. 25—Gateway Medical Society will host its annual Gala at the Marriott City Center, 112 Washington Place, Uptown. The evening will honor Dr. Steven Evans and Dr. Anita Edwards as its “Oswald J. Nickens, MD” Physicians of the Year. Also, there will be a scholarship presentation and an introduction of the youth from the Society’s Journey to Medicine program. Step Afrika!
OCT. 25—The Center for Organ Recovery & Education along with the University of Pittsburgh’s Office of Health Sciences Diversity will host Step Afrika! At 7:30 p.m. at the University of Pittsburgh’s Alumni Hall, 4227 Fifth Ave., Oakland. Enjoy the fast-paced dance steps and energetic sounds of Step Afrika! As they perform African step dancing to commemorate the upcoming National Donor Sabbath. Brenda Waters of KDKA-TV will be the mistress of ceremonies. This event is free and open to the public. Racial Justice Awards Luncheon
OCT. 29—The YWCA of Greater Pittsburgh will host its 23rd Annual Racial Justice Awards Luncheon from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Westin Convention Center Hotel, 1000 Penn Ave., Downtown. Several local heroes will be recognized for their efforts to promote equality, freedom and justice. Appreciation Dinner Dance
NOV. 1—Purpose of Life will host its First Annual Appreciation Dinner Dance from 5-11 p.m. at the Monroeville Doubletree Convention Center, 101 Mall Blvd., Monroeville.
