MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) – Voting is now open on suggested names for Morgantown’s new professional baseball team.
Voting on the 10 nicknames is being held through Oct. 17 at www.morgantownprobaseball.com .
The names include the Black Bears, Black Diamonds, Canaries, Coal Kings, Coal Sox, The Energy, Moonshiners, Muskets, Wild Ones and The Wonder.
The Pittsburgh Pirates’ short season Class A affiliate will start playing next summer at a ballpark currently under construction. The team will share the stadium with West Virginia University’s baseball team, which plays its home games in the spring.
