One of the ministers I talked with on the way to the parking lot said, “speaking only for myself and my church we have been lax but we will become active in the very near future.”
Over the years I have written dozens of columns reminding the churches they have the potential to make positive change that will not only benefit their congregation but the communities where their churches are located. However in too many religious institutions God is secondary; denomination, edifice, congregation size, minister’s degrees and even where the pastor resides have become our priorities.
