Signature Event
SEPT. 25—Small Seeds Development Inc. will host its 5th Annual Signature Event from 5-9 p.m. at the LeMont Restaurant, 1114 Grandview Ave., Mt. Washington. The theme is “Celebrating 15 Years: Families In Motion.” The evening will honor trailblazers and leaders who have impacted the lives of children, families and communities. They include Carmen Anderson, Judge Kim Berkeley Clark, Chaz Kellem, Howard Slaughter Jr. and Rev. Michael Wurschmidt. Brenda Waters, of KDKA-TV News, and Sonya Toler, of the Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety, will be the Mistresses of Ceremonies. Women’s Walk for Peace
SEPT. 27—The Northside Coalition for Fair Housing will host the 2014 Women’s Walk for Peace at 10 a.m. from Bethany House in Northview Heights to West Park. There will be a walk followed by a Peace Festival from 12-3 p.m., featuring a concert by Kindred the Family Soul. This is a daylong tribute to the spirit, strength and resilience of women. Poker Run
SEPT. 27—CC&TD, along with Triple Threat, will host the 13th Annual Poker Run at 10:30 a.m. at West Park, Western and Brighton Avenues, North Side. The person with the Best Poker Hand at the end of the run will win a cash prize of $300. Riders will meet up at 9:30 a.m. There will also be a meet and greet for out of town guests from 6-9 p.m. at the New Brotherhood National Club House, on Frankstown Avenue in Homewood. Senior Prom
SEPT. 28—Allen Place Community Services Inc. will host its 2014 Senior Prom from 5-10 p.m. at the Doubletree by Hilton, 500 Mansfield Ave., Greentree. The theme is “Building Community Partnership for Health Equity: A Plan to Know Your Numbers.” The evening will include dinner, dancing, a classic car show, a red carpet, health education and more. NAACP General Meeting
SEPT. 30—The Pittsburgh Branch of the NAACP will host its General Meeting at 6 p.m. at Freedom Unlimited, 2201 Wylie Ave., Hill District. All members are encouraged to attend this important meeting to discuss the process for the NAACP election in November. For more information, call 412-471-1024.
Fall Fashion Show/Luncheon

Heritage Day Parade
