Our communities are in disrepair and we continue to reward the same politicians every election with our votes.
We give our votes away and never demand services in return. The predominantly Black communities must rise up collectively and disrupt the drug traffic, gun traffic, failing schools, denial of employment, biased jail sentencing and excuse making, and adopt the attitude that the final solution lies in the hearts, minds, concern and actions of the Black communities.
Too many of us have bought into the flawed thinking that we Blacks are incapable of this. We must adopt the belief that there is noting that we can’t do.
I remember having a conversation with a prominent Black Pittsburgher who recalled a conversation with a well-meaning foundation member where the question was asked, “What do Black people do for themselves?”
The Black man had no answer. The time is long overdue for Black people to develop an answer for this ongoing question.
