As with most weekends during the summer in Atlanta, there are a plethora of activities and events for ATL-iens to get fully immersed in. You and the family and friends can either enjoy a lazy, leisurely outing at one event or, if you’re adventurous and high strung, can try event hopping at the likes of a Falcons preseason football game, the Ford Neighborhood Awards, the Sweet Auburn Film Festival or the Pan African Film Festival, among others.

Aug. 8: Atlanta Falcons game versus the Miami Dolphins at the Georgia Dome, downtown Atlanta.
Aug. 8-10: Steve Harvey Neighborhood Awards, Georgia World Congress Center and Phillips Arena, downtown Atlanta

Aug. 9: Texas Tenors, Atlanta Symphony Hall. 8 p.m.
Aug. 9: KISS-FM Flashback Festival. Bootsy Collins, War, Con Funk Shun, The Bar-Kays, Cherrelle. Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood, 6 p.m.
Aug. 9: 19th Annual Flashback Festival: Billed as one of Atlanta’s biggest R&B concerts, this event features legendary artists from back in the day at Aaron’s Lakewood Amphitheater.
Aug 9-10: Sweet Auburn Music Festival:  This music festival is a multi-genre event featuring three distinct forms of music – R&B, Hip-Hop, and Gospel.  Whether you’re a patron or participant, you will celebrate the experience of being a part of a festival of food, fun, and music!
Aug. 10: Oddball Comedy Tour: Louis C.K., Aziz Ansari, Hannibal Buress and more. Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood.
Now through Sept. 7: Dream Cars Exhibit: This exhibition explores the innovative designs that sparked ideas of future possibility and progress.  It examines the dream car through five themes: individual makers, the impact of styling, visionary designers, the design process, and the influence of automobile fairs.  See them now at the High Museum.
