There is an old quote that is as appropriate in 2014 as it was in 1865: “It is up to us to remove the shackles from our minds, the shackles have been removed from our legs.” It is long overdue for us as a people to be reminded that They only have power if we allow them to have it.
Across this nation we currently have Black men and women as congresspersons, local and federal judges, governors, mayors, CEOs, college deans, police commissioners, and don’t forget, President of United States. All of the aforementioned persons succeeded in spite of THEM.
