:08—By now you know the…opps did it again. I mean your Pittsburgh Pirates are for real. Taking 2 out of 3 from the Cardinals this early is no easy task. If the pitching holds up again as it did last year, the sky’s the limit. (Don’t count out a hot trade this season, I mean something big.)
:07—Never mind O.J., what about James Harrison? Come on Pittsburgh Steelers, do the right thing, bring “The Silver Back” home.
:06—Clearly Fred Crawford and his boys got to the Pacers and made them a deal they can’t refuse. How else do you explain this nosedive? And who else has that much juice than Fred?!?!
:05—The Left Hand Legend, that is Tom “Bum” Coates, and the Pittsburgh Old Timers are in line to repeat for another national title. Stay tuned and stay in touch.
:04—Hey Speaking of the Night of the Champions, a special thank you goes out to “Smokin’” Jim Frazier, Al Levin “The Talking Machine” and the Bethel Park T.V. crew for filming the event. Job well done boys! And a huge, ginormus thanks to Ulish Carter and Rossano Stewart, the photographer, and the New Pittsburgh Courier staff for a tremendous spread in the paper.
:03—The Pens clinched their division. All the hockey fans out there know what that means. For the rest of you that don’t know a thing about hockey, like me…well…that’s all I got!
:02—The Champions High School Seniors All-Star Basketball Classic will be held Saturday, May 10 at the New and Fabulous Thelma Lovette Centre Avenue YMCA. Senior girls at 3 p.m. and senior boys at 5 p.m. For tryouts call the Champions at 412-628-4856.
:01—“First Fridays” are back and that means the Champions and the Pittsburgh United Rays Corvette Club will be bringing you the legend Sly Jock and the greatest soul music ever played. Opening night, Friday, May 2 at a brand new spot (you know how we roll), Brewstone Sports Bar/Grill and Restaurant in Monroeville on Rt. 22/William Penn Highway, right across the street from Buffalo Wild Wings.
