Reality television shows are now one of the most popular genres of television shows and a reality favorite is filmed right in the Pittsburgh area. Lifetime’s “Dance Moms” features Holly Hatcher-Frazier aka Dr. Holly.
On Dec. 18, at the Double Tree Hotel in Monroeville, Dr. Holly unveiled her book “Moments of Clarity: Daily Affirmations from Dr. Holly.” Guests that came out on the chilly night got a chance to meet Dr. Holly and her daughter, Nia, who dances with the Abby Lee Dance Studio featured on the show, and several of the other dance moms and their daughters. From all outward appearances the book signing will be a part of the reality show. Each guest had to sign a release and we were given exact instructions on what to do when members of the “cast” entered the room.
Hatcher-Frazier’s book can be considered petite however Abby was the Abby we see on television and referred to the book as a pamphlet better suited for ladies to read in the doctor’s office, ouch! Some of those in line waiting to have their books signed loved affirmation #30 “Star in Your Own Life: Strive to perfect our best.” Perfection may be unattainable, but your best is always within reach. Remember doing your best may not be the same as being the best. But you can always be your best you. Show up every day and star in your own life.
As Abby exited the room she turned around and asked Dr. Holly about her Doctorate Degree. “You have a doctorate, right Holly?” said Abby. Holly replied, “yes I have a PhD.” Abby then quipped, “I have a PhD too, a Penn Hills Diploma.”
The Dr. Holly title is no joke; she earned her bachelor’s degree in History and American Studies from Williams College and received a Master’s of Public Management in Educational Leadership from the H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon University. Dr. Holly then earned a Doctorate in Education from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Holly is married to Evan Frazier and also has two sons, Evan Jr. and William.
