A.J. RICHARDSON
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Police say a man who was recently a candidate for mayor in Pittsburgh fought with officers and was arrested.
Authorities say that 38-year-old A.J. Richardson appeared to be intoxicated when officers responded to a neighborhood dispute Tuesday evening around 6:30 p.m.
When officers attempted to arrest Richardson he allegedly referred to them as “white devils” and urged a crowd to fight back, according to police.
Richardson is facing trespassing, aggravated assault, resisting arrest, harassment and other charges.
No attorney was listed on court papers, and a number listed for Richardson was not in service. He received less than one percent of the vote in the May Democratic primary for mayor.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 17.
