The ladies of the Homewood AMEZ Senior Missionary Society held their annual afternoon tea on April 28 at Homewood AMEZ Church. Ladies donned their hats and gloves and enjoyed an afternoon program. Essie Copeland and yours truly served as tea pourers. All participated in the opening selection “Lift Him Up.” Twanda Dennis gave a hearty welcome, with Mary Pryor reading the scripture Psalm 27:1 the Lord is my light and my salvation, and Minnie Gardner led the group in prayer.

At one point in the program, the Missionary Society Members paraded with lit candles as they sang “Jesus, The Light of the World.” Guests enjoyed musical selections performed by Min. Marita Dennis and a special surprise tribute that was presented to me. The Missionary Society also honored Shirlee Carter, one of the longtime members who has recently moved to Ohio. Missionary President Toni Phinisee presented a unique picture to Carter that featured the members pictures in teacups. Carter was thrilled and surprised.
Reverend Stanley Dennison closed the program with remarks and the special afternoon was truly enjoyed, especially the delightful cookies made by Ida Maloney.
