Business Discussion

MARCH 14—Urban Innovation21 will host a Discussion on the “Best Practices for Connecting African-American Communities to Pittsburgh’s Successful Innovation Economy” from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Homewood Carnegie Library, 7101 Hamilton Ave., Homewood. Guests include Johnathan Holifield, A. Mike Green and Chad Womack, PhD. There will also be a discussion from 3-5 p.m. This event is open to the public. Business Series

MARCH 15—The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh will host their Business Program Series at 12:15 p.m. at the Downtown & Business branch, 612 Smithfield St., Downtown. The topic is “How to Construct a Good Resume.” Executive Coach and President of Posti & Associates Inc., Chris Posti, will facilitate this workshop and give helpful tips to keep one’s resume at the top of the pile. PowerBreakfast

MARCH 16—The African-American Chamber of Commerce of Western Pennsylvania will host its PowerBreakfast at 7:30 a.m. at the Rivers Club, One Oxford Centre, 301 Grant St., Downtown. The featured guest for the morning will be Richard Fitzgerald, the chief executive of Allegheny County, and he will discuss his plans for the county. Business Fraud

MARCH 19—Chatham University’s Center for Women Entrepreneurship and PNC will host a “Small Business Fraud” Workshop from 5:30-6:15 p.m. at James Laughlin Music Hall, Woodland Rd., Shadyside. This is a workshop by PNC on what businesses need to know on an issue that is becoming more common. Guests will also learn how one can be proactive in protecting themselves, their business and their reputation. There will be networking opportunities and refreshments. Registration is requested. Job Recruitment

MARCH 20—The Eastside Neighborhood Employment Center, Bloomfield Garfield Corp’s Pittsburgh Connects Lab and PNC Bank will host a Job Recruitment Fair at 10 a.m. at 5321 Penn Ave., Garfield. Job Fair

MARCH 21—Community College of Allegheny County will host Get Working Wednesdays from 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Allegheny Campus, Foerster Student Service Center, 800 Allegheny Ave., North Side. Every Wednesday throughout the semester the college will hold a job fair with representatives from the region’s employers. Small Business Basics

MARCH 24—SCORE Pittsburgh will host its Small Business Basics from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at PNC-YMCA, 2nd floor, 226 Fifth Ave., Downtown. This workshop, which will be presented by professionals, helps new businesses get off to the right start by covering business plan development, record keeping, taxes, financing, marketing and legal aspects. Federal Contracting

MARCH 28—The U.S. Small Business Administration will host a Federal Contracting workshop from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Riverside Center for Innovation, 1st floor conference room, 700 River Ave., North Side. It includes 8(a), HUBZone and Women Certifications and MBE/WBE and Veteran-owned businesses are encouraged to attend. It is free and open to the public. Networking

ONGOING—The Triangle Chapter of Professional Referral Exchange will host its Meeting at 12 p.m. at Tambellini’s Restaurant, 139 7th St., Downtown.
