The Delta’s and the Kappa’s did it again, the second successful Peppermint Soiree was held Aug. 27 at the Marriott City Center.
The crowd began to gather at 7 p.m. for a night of pure fun. There was one room dedicated to vendors with jewelry, handbags, shoes and of course everything a Kappa and Delta could dream of in the way of tee shirts, caps and Greek accessories. In the main lobby there was a photographer and wine tasting.

Carving stations were throughout the lobby and foyer and the smooth jazz sounds of Dwayne Dolphin flowed out of the Marquis Ballroom. There was no dating game this year, but there was a well-crafted Greek Parade fashion show that featured all of the sororities and fraternities instead. Everyone got an equal opportunity to strut their colors.
Alpha man, Davie Huddleston wore a blazer that was intended for the dedication of the MLK statue. The show was actually a competition with the audience voting by tickets for their favorite, the AKA’s won $500 towards their scholarship fund.
The centerpiece of the evening was the Karaoke Talent Show where everyone who entered was a winner. A lot of hidden talent was revealed on this night and the first place winner was a soulful Aisha Gunter. Kea Starr was a close second and Geri Abrams took third place.
This was a Steeler night in Pittsburgh, so a room was set aside for Steeler fans to catch the game.
