Did you celebrate Christmas? Why or why not?

The world just celebrated Christmas so we asked Pittsburghers if they celebrated and this is what you said.

“I do and don’t celebrate Christmas. My family does and I am willing to support them. I celebrate the gathering of friends and family but I don’t celebrate the ripping and running, the buying of gifts and spending of lots of money. Christmas for me is a stepping stone for Kwanzaa.”

“I am celebrating all holidays because I believe in the universal expression of spirituality. I have always celebrated in this way because I come from a very diverse family.”
Pamela Kristan

“I don’t celebrate Christmas. It’s not my holiday. I believe in living life every day. We all should live life to the fullest and not wait for a certain time of year to really enjoy ourselves.”
Henry Gaston

“I will definitely be celebrating Christmas as I always have. It is a special holiday for me. The joy I felt as a child is now a part of what I create for my own children. I can’t wait to see their faces Christmas morning.”
Angela Perry
Lincoln
Night Auditor

“I celebrate Christmas in as much as spending time with my family. I don’t believe in the consumerism of the holiday and don’t support the idea of telling children that Santa is the gift-giver. I will be celebrating Kwanzaa this year as I have done over the past couple of years.”
Menes Nowe

Computer Technician

“I am celebrating Christmas with friends and family as its tradition. It’s not about gifts or a huge feast; it’s about family and being together. I come from a huge family with conflicting religious backgrounds. It’s our own kind of fellowship and one thing I try to instill in my children is that family is everything.”
